Former UALR guard Chuck Guy to transfer to Division II

BURN THE HORSE
As reported on Burn The Horse when it was revealed he was leaving UALR, guard Chuck Guy will transfer to a NCAA Division II school next year.

Tarleton State, which finished 27-6 last season, announced this week that Guy was transferring there. Head Coach Lonn Reisman said in the school's press release that Guy will bring experience.

"He's played against very good competition the last two seasons competing in the Sun Belt Conference including one trip his freshman year to the NCAA Tournament. We both share the same goals and expectations and think he will be an amazing fit and player for us here at Tarleton State the next two seasons," Reisman said.

Sounds like a great fit. But then Reisman goes off his rocker for this quote.

"I have coached a couple of NBA players in Dennis Rodman and Anthony Jones and I think Chuck's natural talent is on par with those players," Reisman said. "If he comes in here and works hard for the next two years and continues to develop, I think he'll have a shot at playing at the next level. He has the skills and ability, it is just up to him to put in the work and dedication."

His sky would have been his limit if that had happened at UALR. Guy was more than a solid contributor for two seasons at UALR. But he never even sniffed the 15-man all-conference teams released by the Sun Belt. Much like Zack Wright, who starred at Central Missouri State after leaving UALR, Guy will probably dominate at D2.

Here's the video release on Guy from Tarleton State. He was great that night against Kentucky.
